J. Rights of the unmarried mother

¹ Up to one year after the birth at the latest, the mother may file a claim against the father or his legal heirs for compensation:²

1.

in respect of the confinement costs;

2.

in respect of the costs of maintenance for at least four weeks prior to the birth and at least eight weeks thereafter;

3.

in respect of other expenses rendered necessary by the pregnancy or confinement, including the initial equipment for the child.

² On grounds of equity, the court may award partial or full compensation for such costs if the pregnancy ends prematurely.

³ Third-party payments to which the mother is entitled by law or by contract must be taken into consideration to the extent justified in the circumstances.
