IV. Adoption of a stepchild

¹ A person is permitted to adopt the child of the person:

1.

to whom he or she is married;

2.

with whom he or she lives in a registered partnership;

3.

with whom he or she cohabits.

² The couple must have been in the same household for at least three years.

³ Persons who cohabit are not permitted to be married or to be bound by a registered partnership.
