1 Human sources are persons who:
2 The FIS may pay human sources appropriately for their activities. Where this is necessary in order to protect the sources or to gather further information, the payment shall not be regarded as taxable income or as income in terms of the Federal Act of 20 December 19465 on Old-Age and Survivors' Insurance.
3 The FIS shall take the measures required to protect the life and limb of human sources. Such measures may also be taken in respect of persons closely associated with human sources.
4 The Head of the DDPS may in specific cases authorise the FIS to provide human sources with a cover story or an alias identity on conclusion of their cooperation, if this is necessary in order to protect the life and limb of the persons concerned.
5 The measures mentioned in paragraphs 3 and 4 are limited to the period of actual danger. By way of exception, a time limit may be dispensed with or a temporary measure may be changed into a permanent measure if the risks to the persons concerned are particularly serious and it must be expected that they will continue to apply.

2 Il SIC può indennizzare adeguatamente le fonti umane per la loro attività. Se è necessario per la protezione delle fonti o per l’acquisizione di ulteriori informazioni, tali indennità non sono considerate né reddito imponibile né reddito ai sensi della legge federale del 20 dicembre 19465 sull’assicurazione per la vecchiaia e per i superstiti.
3 Il SIC adotta le misure necessarie per proteggere la vita e l’integrità fisica delle fonti umane. Tali misure possono essere adottate anche a favore di persone a loro vicine.
4 Al termine della collaborazione, il capo del DDPS può, in casi specifici, autorizzare il SIC ad assegnare alle fonti umane una copertura o un’identità fittizia se ciò è indispensabile per proteggerne la vita e l’integrità fisica.
5 Le misure di cui ai capoversi 3 e 4 sono limitate al periodo di tempo durante il quale sussiste un pericolo concreto. Eccezionalmente, è possibile rinunciare a una limitazione temporale o commutare una misura limitata nel tempo in una misura a tempo indeterminato se i rischi per gli interessati sono particolarmente elevati e si deve ritenere che perdureranno.
