Art. 48 Children fostered with a view to adoption

¹ Foster children are entitled to receive a residence permit and to have their residence permit extended if:

a.: their adoption is planned in Switzerland;
b.: the requirements under civil law for the adoption of foster children are fulfilled; and
c.: their entry for the purpose the adoption was lawful.

² If the adoption falls through, the foster children are entitled to an extension of their residence permit and, five years after entry, they are entitled to be granted a settlement permit.
