Art. 49

¹ Plated articles may be marked as follows:

a.

with the word «Plaqué», together with the type of production, the following letters being used:

1.: «L» for laminated coating,
3.: «G» for electrolytic plating; and

b.

with a responsibility mark.

² The mark under paragraph 2 may be supplemented by the name of the coating metal, the thickness of the layer in micrometres and the word «microns» in full or abbreviated form.

³ The marks may be struck on an unplated part if, for technical or aesthetic reasons, they cannot be applied on the plated part.

⁴ Gold plated watch-cases and accessory parts may be also marked as follows:

a.

with two letters that indicate the type of plating, the following letters being used:

1.: «GR» for laminated coating,
2.: «GP» for all other types of coating,
3.: «GC» for «gold capped» or «coiffe or»;

b.

with digits that specify the thickness of the plating in micrometres; and

c.

with a responsibility mark.

⁵ The Central Office shall issue directives on the permissibility of other marks or the marking of partially plated articles.

Art. 49

¹ Les ouvrages plaqués peuvent être marqués de la façon suivante:

a.

avec le mot «plaqué» accompagné de la mention du procédé de fabrication désigné par l’une des lettres suivantes:

1.: «L» pour le plaqué laminé,
2.: «G» pour le plaqué galvanique, et

b.

avec un poinçon de maître.

² Le marquage peut être complété par le nom du métal de recouvrement, l’indication de l’épaisseur en micromètres et le mot «microns», en toutes lettres ou abrégé.

³ Lorsque des nécessités techniques ou esthétiques empêchent le marquage d’une partie pour elle-même, le marquage peut être apposé sur l’autre partie.

⁴ Les boîtes de montre plaquées or et leurs parties complémentaires peuvent aussi porter les indications suivantes:

a.

avec deux lettres désignant le type de revêtement, à savoir:

1.: «GR» pour le plaqué laminé,
2.: «GP» pour tous les autres types de plaqué,
3.: «GC» pour les «coiffes or»;

b.

avec les chiffres indiquant l’épaisseur du revêtement en micromètres, et

c.

avec un poinçon de maître.

⁵ Le bureau central émet des prescriptions concernant l’admission d’autres désignations, dont celle des ouvrages partiellement plaqués.
