1 Die Statistikproduzenten des Bundes haben das Bundesamt vor der Einführung, vor grundlegenden Änderungen und vor der Aufhebung von statistischen Arbeiten nach Artikel 3 Absatz 2 Buchstaben a–c zu konsultieren. Das Bundesamt muss ebenfalls vor der Schaffung, vor grundlegenden Änderungen und vor der Aufhebung von administrativen Datensammlungen und Registern des Bundes, welche für die Zwecke der Bundesstatistik geeignet sind, konsultiert werden.
2 Das Bundesamt berät die Statistikproduzenten des Bundes sowie die regionalen statistischen Ämter in statistischen Angelegenheiten. Es bietet ihnen eine entsprechende statistische Aus- und Weiterbildung an.
3 Das Bundesamt kann zwecks Koordination und Harmonisierung der Bundesstatistik, nach Anhörung der betroffenen Kreise und im Einvernehmen mit der Statistikkommission, Empfehlungen sowie technische und methodologische Richtlinien über die statistischen Arbeiten nach Artikel 3 Absatz 2 Buchstaben a–c erlassen.
4 Das Bundesamt erstellt ein Inventar der statistischen Arbeiten nach Artikel 3 Absatz 2 Buchstaben a–c, der administrativen Datensammlungen und Register des Bundes, welche für die Zwecke der Bundesstatistik geeignet sind, sowie der Beobachtungs- und Messnetze. Das Inventar wird jährlich nachgeführt.
5 Das Bundesamt koordiniert die Beziehungen des Bundes zu internationalen Organisationen im Bereich der Statistik. Es stellt zudem den Datenaustausch der Bundesstatistik mit den zuständigen internationalen Organisationen sicher, sofern er nicht durch andere Statistikproduzenten des Bundes gewährleistet wird. Der Datenaustausch über Netzwerke geschieht in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Bundesamt für Informatik und Telekommunikation4.

1 The federal statistics generators must consult the Federal Office before the start, the fundamental modification or the termination of statistical projects in terms of Article 3 paragraph 2 letters a–c. The Federal Office must likewise be consulted before the creation, fundamental modification or termination of federal administrative data collections and federal registers that are suitable for the federal statistical purposes.
2 The Federal Office advises the federal statistics generators as well as the regional statistical offices on statistical matters. It offers them suitable basic and advanced in statistics.
3 The Federal Office may for the purpose of the coordination and harmonisation of federal statistics, after consulting with the parties concerned and with the agreement of the Statistics Committee, issue recommendations and technical and methodological guidelines on the statistical work in terms of Article 3 paragraph 2 letters a–c.
4 The Federal Office shall draw up an inventory of the statistical activities in terms of Article 3 paragraph 2 letters a–c, of the federal administrative data collections and federal registers that are suitable for federal statistical purposes, and of the observation and monitoring networks. The inventory shall be updated annually.
5 The Federal Office coordinates the relations of the Confederation with international organisations in the field of statistics. It also guarantees the exchange of data between the federal statistical bodies and the relevant international organisations, insofar as this is not guaranteed by other federal statistics generators. The exchange of data via networks is carried out in cooperation with the Federal Office for Information Technology and Systems4.
